Kacper Karpik

Hi, I’m Kacper and I study art in St Benedict’s School, and I have been introduced to a project of Golden Record at the beginning of the second lockdown. This project is an opening to my discovery to a range of new digital styles. I find this project helping me to expand my interest in virtual reality and digital art. This is my main interest, this will also help me in future if I choose to focus on Graphic Design as a freelancer or a commercial graphic designer. It’s enjoyable to do this project because it allows me to find different methods for new effects that have I never tried before.

Beginning stages of project

The first stage in the project I’ve been working with sound. I have used a free software called Audacity. I have used my microphone to record a number of sounds (pouring in sparkling drink, drinking sound, using a keyboard). I found this interesting as it was the first time I had recorded things that I do on daily basis, the sounds were high quality and they gave satisfaction to listen to as you could hear each of the bubble popping. The drinking sound was in style of an ASMR sounds that are quite popular and found to be relaxing or satisfying. I feel my attempt of ASMR was successful, but the sound that been recorded as I was drinking wasn’t really relaxing. I found it quite uncomfortable.

The first recording of drink poured into a glass.
An audio of me drinking, this has really reminded me the ASMR.
Recording of my keyboard, I have chosen to do it because the keyboard has a different sound to a normal membrane keyboard.

My other best work I did, for the theme of habitat. I created this water simulation looking at its importance for human existence. I used software called Blender to create the simulation.

No filter
This is the expanded version of the simulation. I have added couple filters like blur, pixilation, colour change and reverse of the video. I also included greetings in different languages; Polish, French and English.
