The Golden Record has introduced me into working digitally in different ways through images, moving images and audio which I had collected ideas for in lock down. Although I prefer working using medias such as Biro and acrylic to create studies, this project allowed me to explore different ways art can be created, digitally and by hand. I chose to focus on habitats and journey as there are different forms of habitat that can be looked into and used further into the project. The area of text inspired me to collect messages and apply them to the theme which I included a variety of text messages in.
TEXT/MESSAGES
I took inspiration from artists in the project such as Barbara Kruger who has art pieces in Tate modern, and includes rhetorical questions and meanings in her pieces reflecting society and human behaviours. The artist Raymond Hains also creates collages with mixed media, which I interpreted into the project by going through magazines and collaging a few meaningful rhetorical questions and phrases which link to the main focus of text and messages. Most of the cut outs collaged relate to the pandemic and effects it can have on people. “We’ve had a wake up call about who matters” suggests the pandemic has shown the most helpful people in our society. “Fantasy or reality?” could be emphasising the big changes in modern society and peoples expectations, beliefs and current values.
IMAGES
These are a few images I took for the imagery focus of the project. Each photo is taken in a different area or habitat, also in different seasons of the year. The first image was taken to show the main focus point of the photo being my brother in the tree as I wanted to include someone in the imagery. The second photo is taken in the summer where the main focus of the image is the reflection of the windows on the yellow walls, which I took a photo of as the colours contrast each other.

For the images area of the project, we also took inspiration from artists for which I chose Alberto Giacometti, who created studies using lines to form and present or experiment how the faces or objects he drew were formed.
