“Nature educates us into beauty and inwardness and is a source of the most noble pleasure” – Karl Blossfeldt

My name is Chloe LeMoel. I am an aspiring artist who has been influenced by the beauty and fragility of nature which we take for granted. Over the past weeks I have tried to capture the sights and sounds of our woodlands and show the contrast of the colours and the textures of the flora and fauna from different perspectives.

“The picture shouldn’t be considered as world in itself, but the world in itself should be seen as a picture” – Raymond Hains

I have studied the interaction between humans, animals and the forest and produced two short films and photographs to encourage others to stop and take a moment to look at their surroundings and listen to nature in all its splendour.

Above, I have included the mind maps and artist inspiration which enabled me to work in my preferred medias such as pencil, watercolour, acrylic and biro. Whilst doing this, I have also attached an image which contains a poem I wrote about “A Walk In The Woods”. This enabled me to experiment with other forms of artwork e.g. poems which I found really helpful as my over theme was a walk in the woods.

Humans perspective

The video above depicts how we view and walk through forests, it is 2 minutes and 8 seconds long. The second video shows how animals walk through the forest and their perspective of it, it is 2 minutes and 36 seconds long.

Dogs perspective

My aim was to capture the senses in which the forest captivates and the habitats in which the animals live in. I also captured the journey in which we would take through the forest and all the textures and natural beauty we see along the way.
