About

Hello everyone, I am Angela and I explore the philosophy of human existence and the morals that we hold in a world that is in constant change. Through my experiences on focusing on the topic of habitat in my art, I was inspired by human lifestyle and the environment.
As a young artist who likes hidden meanings and stories, I truly enjoy capturing moments through a lens. I also like to use other mediums such as digital drawing and painting (and I am now learning how to do film making yay). I began to experiment further with different mediums through partaking in ‘The Golden Lockdown’ project, a collective group project in which other young artists had created messages to send to the cosmos in a similar way to the ‘Golden Record’ which consisted of different communications used by humans.
To conclude, humans cultivate rational thinking through time. Therefore, I want to demonstrate an insight to the development of human advancement and show the wonder of our world through my artwork 😊

Introduction to Art and Science

Anne Brodie – Artist Inspiration
We had begun our Art-Science project by researching a few artists. This led us to gain some inspiration before starting our own work and so, one of the artist suggested to be inspired by was Anne Brodie – a Scottish artist who works collaboratively with scientists.

Moving Image

Bill Viola – Artist Inspiration
I found his work quite inspiring since he brings philosophy into the movement of water electrons. I found his concept of water very beautiful and dreamlike – reminding me of the World of Forms theorised by an Ancient Greek Philosopher, Plato.
I have drawn a fish to indicate my response to Bill Viola’s work using his technique of slow motion in moving images.

Habitat – A Collaboration
Vlada and I had been paired up to work collaboratively. We both agreed on doing this theme since we were at a period of quarantine.
We both looked at the Internal and External perspectives of our habitat (our home). Through doing this, we have researched about two artists – Giacometti and Jamie Livingston – which enabled us to find a certain style of art to be inspired by.

Text, Greetings & Language

Text & Greetings – Concertina Book
I have created a concertina book which includes a range of languages, messages and photographs that intertwines different cultures around the world as well as having small messages for the beyond. I have been inspired by the works of Katie Patterson, Robert Montgomery, Van Gogh, Apollinaire and Lauren Child.
I have added a shade of lilac to add an accent of individuality since I have created this concertina book myself (because I like purple and blue).

Conclusion

The Chaotic Journey of Historical Evolution – Angela and Kirstein
I have drawn a rocket to represent the focal point of the collage. Both sides interlink with each other due to the similarities between the themes of evolution and history, which results in human advancement.
Angela – Habitat, Evolution
Kirstein – Journey, History
Thus, I have chosen for our collaboration to come last order wise because it shows the telos (or result) of human evolution along with history – to chase the stars!

Final Thoughts
Through this experience of exploring varied themes from making a contribution to ‘The Golden Lockdown’, I will take into account the skills and knowledge I have learnt to apply to my artwork in the future. I will continue to experiment with new mediums in the same way that I have done in my project and I hope to pursue a career that links to something creative such as further studying into the Arts!
